NPE2009 Exhibition Tours & History of the Plastics Industry
Walt Bishop, VP Equipment Council, SPI: The Plastics Industry Trade Association will give the students a look into the past and the future of plastics and how it has evolved over the years. He will also share his extensive knowledge from his 20 plus years in the plastics industry. Then he will take the students on a tour of the show floor where he will give brief descriptions of the exhibitors and the products they are showcasing. Students are encouraged to visit the NPE2009 exhibition. The tours are designed so students will have an opportunity to visit exhibitors that are displaying the latest in plastics manufacturing technology (i.e. injection molding, blow molding, extrusion, thermoforming, and more) within one hour. After the tours, the groups are encouraged to visit and interact with NPE2009 Student Friendly exhibitors.
Guided Tours: Five guided tours are available on Friday. Tours are limited to 12 and are available on a first-come, first-served basis – early registration is encouraged.
Self-Guided Tours: Groups are limited to 10 students accompanied by one adult supervisor. The NPE2009 Student Tour Program will provide a map of exhibitors to visit and descriptions of the process represented by each exhibitor. |

Become an NPE Student Friendly Exhibitor
- Realizing the challenges companies face in securing talent for their workforce, SPI created this program to enhance students’ knowledge of the plastics industry and encourage entry in plastics-related careers.
- Our NPE exhibitors can help encourage young minds and recruit youth to our industry by becoming a Student Friendly Exhibitor. How?
- Welcome students and instructors into your booth by displaying an NPE Student Friendly Exhibitor sign that will be provided.
- Discuss the technology exhibited in your booth and generic career opportunities available in the industry.
- The activities for the NPE Student Summit program are scheduled for Wednesday and Friday (June 24 and 26), although students may visit any day during the show.
- Door prizes will be awarded at the student events on Friday, June 26th. If your company would like to provide company give-aways, bags, etc., to the program, they would be very much appreciated.
- Your company’s participation in this program can have a major impact on the career choices of students and win over educators to promote careers in the plastics industry.
- If you are interested in being listed as an NPE Student Friendly Exhibitor and/or donating items for the Student Summit program, please email educate@npe.org by May 15, 2009.
